Sherman- Larry Don Vaden was born August 30, 1946 in Durant, Oklahoma to Joseph Lowery Vaden and Ollie Bernice (Griffith) Vaden and passed from this life Sunday, December 11, 2011 in Sherman. Mr. Vaden was a graduate of Durant High School in 1964 and later earned a Bachelor's degree in Physics. He was a national science fair finalist and was appointed to the Oak Ridge National Labs by Speaker of the House, Carl Albert. Mr. Vaden once worked for Mobil Oil locating oil "fields". He designed software used at the Olympics in Sarajevo, and was presented a tie by the Olympic Committee. Mr. Vaden also designed 'reservation software' for Holiday Inn and spent five years overseas in Frankfurt in the hotel reservation business. Mr. Vaden was founder and president of Internet Texoma which he established in April 1995. His hobbies were playing golf and target shooting.
Mr. Vaden was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his son Andrew and wife Ana, and their daughter Sophia Rose of Washington D.C., longtime companion Linda Avila of Denison, brother Jack Vaden and wife Teresa of Bonham, sisters Debbie Elk and husband James of Denison, Donna Glasscock and husband Ricky of Trenton, nieces Lana Beeter of Colleyville, Stephanie Hughes of Sherman, Stacy Glasscock of Bonham, Angie Vaden of Bonham, and Kimberly Nunn of Sherman, nephews J.R. Vaden of Bonham and Daniel Elk of Denison.
A celebration of Mr. Vaden's life will be 2:00pm Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at Waldo Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Chet Haney officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery in Durant, OK with Stephen Michael, Randy Atchley, James Beames, Bill Harris, Eric Hughes, and J.R. Vaden serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Pete Veeck and Tom Mac Holmes. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 7-8pm at the funeral home.
