Obituary

Loice Jackson Cobb, affectionately known as, "Toots" of Denison, Texas was born Sunday, August 18, 1946. The daughter of the late Edward and Mattie Jackson. She attended Terrell High School, where she completed her education. Loice was a gifted athlete and excelled in basketball, track, and field events. She was an unstoppable scorer in girls' basketball and a track and field athlete who won the discus and baseball throw. In both 1966 and 1967, Loice was the Texas State 2A Champion in the baseball throw at Prairie View A&M University. In 1980 – 1982, she played soft ball with the Denison Superstars, playing left and center field.

Loice worked for Denison Memorial Hospital, Denison Mattress Factory, Diaper Jeans, Denison Manor, and retired from Walmart after 10 wonderful years.

Loice enjoyed spending time with her family, knitting, sitting outside on the porch, working crossword puzzles, and sports. She was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan!

Loice departed this earthly life on Tuesday, May 2, 2023, surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Aubrey Cobb; daughter, Delphia Smith (Peter); grandson, JerMarkus Edward Nealey; four siblings, Charles, Ronald, Richard, and Betty.

She is survived by her children, Lisa Jackson of Plano, Texas, Jennifer Smith (Ulrie) of Sherman, Texas, Bianca Smith of Allen, Texas, and Aubrey Cobb (Jermaine Sr.) of Denison, Texas; siblings Robert Jackson, Patricia Jackson-Kincy (Theodis), and Dale Jackson, all of Denison, Texas; 17 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, along with a host of other relatives and friends that love her dearly.

A public visitation will be Friday, May 12 th from 2 P.M. to 7 P.M. at Waldo Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be Saturday, May 13 th at 11 A.M. at Mt. Olive Baptist Church,1131 S. Scullin Ave., Denison. Rev. Alton Blakely as host pastor and Rev. C.E. Evans will be officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Denison.
