Lorene (Goldston) Shelton's Obituary

Lorene Shelton went "home" to be with her heavenly family on October 17, 2013 at the young age of 86. Lorene, born on February 25, 1927 in Whitesboro, Texas; was the daughter of Herman and Lois (Stubblefield) Goldston and the sister to seven siblings. Lorene, the daughter of hard working parents had the honor of being raised on the 100 acre Grayson County Farm where her Father managed the care facility for over 35 years. The "County Farm" provided lodging and care for the elderly and she always shared wonderful stories of the many residents that called The County Farm home, and how those people were her extended family. Lorene's North Texas family roots date back to the 1850's when her ancestors settled in Grayson County Texas. Lorene was also a graduate of Sherman High School. While she lived most of her adult life in San Antonio her heart was always bound to Sherman and its neighboring communities.

Lorene married Joe Bill Tamplen and was wed to him until his untimely death at the age of 27. From their marriage Lorene and Joe Bill had their daughter Sandra Lorene. On December 29, 1951 Lorene married Jay Lee Shelton and they shared a life that span over 50 years and had three additional children, Mary, Jerry and Nancy. Lorene dedicated her life to a service of homemaker and loved the chance to add antique dishes to their home. Jay and Lorene's four children in turn gave them eleven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. Lorene is survived by her children Sandra Smith; Mary and husband John Boyd; Jerry Shelton and wife Pam; Nancy and husband Mark Bauer. Grandchildren include Jennifer Smith; Jeff Smith; Ethan Founteno; Denisha Hicks; Shane Shelton; Sarah Lopez Rivera, Kristy Boyd Ochoa; Bill Boyd, Dary Boyd, Shelton Bauer and Brayden Bauer. Lorene is also survived by her brother Loy Goldston and brothers-in-law Charles Tuley and Billy Shelton, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and their children. Lorene was preceded in death by her husband Jay Shelton; parents; brothers Johnny, Leon, Delton, and Troy; and sisters Mildred and Edna.
