Makynna Eden Tumlinson (aka “Sunshine”) was born on April 29, 2008.

Makynna was the daughter of Tommy and Stephanie Tumlinson and the sister of Brayden Tumlinson.

Makynna was someone unique and special to everyone. She had a tremendous amount of love for her family, her friends, strangers, and especially for her boyfriend Donnie. She was the most loving, caring, and happiest person you could possibly meet. Her family believes her place here on earth was to try to teach people to love one another, no matter what. Makynna did not have a mean bone in her body.

Makynna was very involved in her community and surrounding activities. She loved being a cheerleader from the time she could walk until the last baseball game, even if she wasn’t in uniform. She made an effort to support any and all school events.

Makynna was the president of the National Honor Society, Class Vice President, FCA Leader, a participant in Floral Design and Audio Video Production. Makynna was nominated for homecoming court and was crowned Prom Queen. She was nominated “Miss TBHS”, “Parent Approved”, and “Best Shoulder to Cry On” by her classmates. She was a busy person but always made a point to put others’ needs before her own.

Makynna enjoyed tanning, swimming in the neighbor’s pool, going shopping, hanging out with her friends, and spending a lot of time with her boyfriend. She loved eating. She would eat about anywhere, but she had a few favorite places she would always go to. Her favorite food was chicken, and we never had to ask what she wanted to eat, because we already knew the answer. She had one special place where she got a chicken sandwich, and that was at Mamaw and Papaw’s house. Nobody could make a chicken sandwich like Mamaw.

Makynna loved her brother, Brayden. She was his built-in best friend. They were glued at the hips as kids, and even as they got older and busier in life, they were always ready to drop whatever was going on to be there for each other.

Makynna already had her life planned out, and it was cut short for reasons we can’t explain. She will truly be missed by many, but especially by her family and one special person.

Makynna impacted countless lives around her. She was supportive and cheered on many people. She was the shoulder to cry on and the sunshine on your cloudy day. She knew how to make each person feel seen and important. Makynna is irreplaceable and the kind of person this world needed.

She was preceded in death by her great-grandparents, Wendell and Lou Tumlinson of Sherman, TX, Gladys and LC Wright of Denison, TX; aunt, Patricia Tumlinson of Denison; and cousin, Austin Tumlinson of Denison, TX.

Makynna is survived by her parents, Tommy and Stephanie Tumlinson of Sherman, TX; Brother and sister-in-law, Brayden and Melanie Tumlinson of Sherman; grandparents, Charles and Shirley Tumlinson of Sherman, Bobby and Paula Bates of Mead, OK, Dan and Cynthia Damesworth of Knoxville, TN; great-grandmother, Mary Bates of Durant, OK; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm, on Monday, June 8th, at Waldo Funeral Home, 619 N. Travis Street, Sherman, TX 75090.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 9th, at 11 am, in the sanctuary of Howe Church of Christ, 1205 N Collins Fwy, Howe, TX 75459. Pastor Jeremy Moore of Community Bible Church in Howe will officiate. Burial will be at Cedarlawn Memorial Park in Sherman.

Pallbearers will be Brayden Tumlinson, Donnie Hooten, Ryan Dearmond, Dallas Peavy, Andrew Secreto and Bobby Acosta.

Makynna, know that life will never be the same for mom and dad. Until we meet one day again, always know we will love you for eternity.
