Obituary

Marcelene (Marcie) Jeanette Jackson

1-20-31 to 12-22-23

Marcie was as born in a small community outside Paris, Texas the fourth of five children to Clarence Lamb and Lillie Mae Floyd Lamb. After high school graduation, she moved to Dallas, Texas, living with family as she started a clerical position at an insurance company and began taking night classes at SMU. Her parents followed her, moving to the Oak Cliff section of Dallas.

As she settled into Oak Cliff, she attended Grace Temple Baptist Church where her life-long friends Betty and Dick Hatfield introduced her to Gene Jackson who she married on July 3, 1953. They often traveled to Galveston, Colorado and Arkansas with family and friends. In 1957 they bought their first home and had their daughter, Nancy. Marcelene stayed home with Nancy the first few years, volunteering at church and helping with local art projects, where she painted and used pastels.

Family was priority for Marcelene, she loved them all, caring for them when they were small and talking to them in later years. Marcie was always organizing family events and having people over to her home. When she and Gene found a lake house at Cedar Creek, it became a hub for family and friends to gather. She wanted people to enjoy the food, fellowship and laughter.

Keeping family together and cared for was important to her. She served as the caregiver for years for a nephew, her father and her mother. She learned to gracefully balance work, family and caregiving, especially when caring for her husband Gene after numerous health issues. Her Year-End letters were full of life happenings and how the grace of God continued to bless even in trials.

In 1962 she went to work as a file clerk with AH Robins company at their Dallas Distribution Facility, where she spent the next 35 years. She embraced the new computer system and as computers progressed, so did her knowledge and career to Assistant Branch Manager. She loved her work family as her own, organizing Christmas parties, retirements, holiday and personal celebrations. At lunch every day is where she honed her domino skills! As anyone knows that ever played with her, Marcie already knew what was in your hand! Even in her last couple of days, she was winning the games!

Art was her passion. When she was 50 she picked her brush back up, and started learning watercolor. As she painted she developed her talent and skill which lead to numerous commissioned works, often of homes and special family activities. With her dear friend Pat Hadaway, they developed a business producing cards from her art. They traveled around the country setting up booths and selling both Marcie's cards and art. After retirement, she opened an Art Gallery in Denison, Texas where she enjoyed painting and meeting people. After closing her gallery, she traveled around the country, painting the countryside, flowers and her favorite subject – lighthouses.

Marcelene was an avid reader, Sudoku and puzzle worker! She liked to watch Hallmark movies, FOX News and spent much time praying for our country. She loved the Lord, rejoiced in his grace and was comforted in his promise of eternal life. As an artist, she saw God's brush strokes in our lives and always saw beauty in the sky and clouds. No doubt she is painting in heaven today!

In lieu of flowers, it would please her if you made donations to Home Hospice of Grayson County at P.O. Box 2306 Sherman, Texas 75091 or the website www.homehospice.org.
