Margaret Anne "Peggy" Ritzer was born on March 25, 1928, to Selma and George Silha in Palo, Iowa. In the early 40's, she moved to Sherman, Texas when her father was transferred to Quaker Oats Co. in Sherman. She graduated from Sherman High School; attended Austin College and graduated from there in 1949 with a double major of English and journalism. She taught mid-grade school in Texas. In the 1960s in a trip to visit her sister living in the Riverhead, N.Y.; She met the love of her life Frederick Ritzer. They married in 1964. They lived in New York, New York and Pennsylvania. She taught school but branched out to work on the Boy Scout "Webelo" handbook. As a reporter, she got to interview many celebrities. She also edited a weekly newspaper in Pennsylvania.

Peggy loved writing poetry, photography and antiques. Some of her poetry has been published over the years. After her husband passed away in 1988, she moved to Sherman to be near her sister and her family. After a fire destroyed her home, she moved to a smaller house but continued looking for and collecting antiques and writing poetry.

Peggy had a beautiful alto voice, she played the piano, organ, and saxophone. Her many accomplishments will be missed.

She is survived by sister, Barbara Pent, nieces Cindi Henry and Cathy Spears, nephews-in-law Mike Henry and Russell Spears, grand nephews Bryan White and Morgan Spears.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband and brother-in-law Donald Pent.

Funeral Service will be Monday, April 21, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. Waldo Funeral Home. A visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m.

The burial will be at West Hill Cemetery at a later date.
