Margie married Ray Hamilton on Aug 20th, 1945 and they were married for 39 years until his death in 1984. She married James Crain on December 14th, 2003 and they were married for 7 years until his death in 2011. She was a long time member of Ramseur Baptist Church in Paris, Texas, where she taught Sunday School and sang in the choir for over 40 years. Children from her class have gone on to serve in the ministry all across the country. Most recently she was a member of Grayson Bible Baptist Church in Sherman, Texas.

During her lifetime Margie worked at S.H. Kress & Co. department store and was a seamstress and supervisor at Nahas of Texas in Paris until it burned down in 1980. Subsequently, she enjoyed cooking and sewing for many people, providing childcare in her home, and sharing God's love with everyone she met. She was famous for her chicken 'n dumplings, cheesy noodles, chocolate pie, lemon pie and sweet, sweet tea!

She was an avid camper, travelling cross-country with her husband Ray in a Winnebago. She also spent several years singing and performing with the "Sweet Adeline" group. Her positive attitude and encouragement were a source of inspiration to many, many people and she leaves a lasting legacy through her example of a Proverbs 31 woman.

Margie was born August 9, 1924 to J.A. and Ellen Pendergrass. She is preceded in death by her first husband, Ray Edward Hamilton, and her second husband, James Ellis Crain; also her parents, her brother Jake Pendergrass, and her sisters Dovie Rivers, Jessie Henry and Dean Gibson.

She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and "adopted" children of her heart.
