IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mark Turner
Kennedy
July 20, 1949 – January 4, 2024
Surrounded by his family, Mark Turner Kennedy went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on January 4th 2024.
He was born to the late Jack and Perkie Kennedy, July 20, 1949 in Ft. Worth, Texas, and was the oldest sibling of Pam Taylor, Marla Kennedy, and David Kennedy. He graduated from Sherman High School and went on to serve in the US Navy. He earned his bachelor's degree from The University of North Texas.
An enthusiast of performance, he was one of the original Billy Bob Bearcat Boys, as well as the lead singer of the Marquees band. He later served as a member of the Sherman High Ex-Students Association, the Sigma Theta Epsilon Fraternity, and was a charitable giver to the Sherman community. He owned and operated Ken-Mar Auto Parts for many years, and was a co-owner of Texoma Fire Equipment.
He married Dianna (Looney) in 1981 in Sherman, Texas where they resided together for over 42 years and raised their three children.
He was a lover of sports, rock and roll, the best "Dad jokes," and "I'm old enough to remember when" lines that always generated plenty of banter and laughter. He enjoyed hiking and traveling with his wife Dianna, and was quite fond of his time reading on the beach at his favorite place in the world, Akumal, Mexico. A reserved, but intentional and honorable man, he was beyond generous, kind, thoughtful, and witty with his dry sense of humor. His words may have been few to some, but once spoken, they were always worth listening to. He will be tremendously missed by those who knew and loved him, but we know he was welcomed by his Savior saying, "Well done, good and faithful servant."
A devoted husband, father, and granddaddy, Mark is survived by his wife Dianna, daughters Morgan (Steven) Pine and Julianne Kennedy, son Eric (Stephanie) Kennedy, granddaughters Madelyn and Kate, grandson Will, a loving extended family, and many wonderful friends.
A private family memorial will be held at Enterprise Cemetery.
