Markayia Solan was born on November 10, 1980 to her mother, Carol Holland Hawkins and father, Andrew McKinney. She received her education from Sherman ISD and graduated from Sherman High School. Markayia was a social butterfly. She had a bright beautiful smile, was quick to laugh, and loved spending time with family. She enjoyed listening to music and trying to do the latest dances.

Markayia entered into eternal life on Thursday, May 2, 2024. She is preceded in death by her mother, Carol Holland Hawkins, grandparents George Ann Holland & Calvin Holland, Sr., Uncles Vernon Holland, Calvin Holland, Tyrone Holland, Aunts Janice Holland Dawson & Mary Kaye Holland McKinney.

Left to cherish her memories are a brother, Maceo Sloan and one nephew. Aunts Gloria Bailey, Catherine Scott Holland, Ruby Bell Holland and a host of cousins, family, and friends.

A public visitation will be held Friday, May 10th from 3 P.M. to 7 P.M. at Waldo Funeral Home. The family will gather Saturday morning at 10 A.M. in the Waldo Family Center.

The funeral service will be Saturday, May 11th at 11 A.M. at Waldo Funeral Chapel with Bishop Larry Goodman officiating.  Burial will follow at West Hill Cemetery.
