Mary Lee (Oliver) Robinson

Sherman- Funeral services for Mary Lee Robinson will be held at 3:00 pm Monday, December 29 at Waldo Funeral Home. Mrs. Robinson passed away Saturday, December 27 at Wilson N. Jones Medical Center at the age of 77.

Mary was born on June 12, 1931 in Westbrook, Texas to the late Charlie and Lela (Brown) Oliver. She married Buddy Robinson on May 13, 1951 in Colorado City, Texas. They resided in Westbrook and Lamesa, Texas before moving to Sherman in 1968. After relocating, she continued her career as a telephone operator for GTE/Verizon, retiring in 1987 after 23 years of service. Throughout the years, her coworkers were always remembered with a smile. She greatly enjoyed watching her grandchildren grow and being a part of their lives. Her sense of humor and faith helped her through the last few years. Mary was a member of Southmayd Baptist Church.

Mary Lee is survived by her husband of 57 years, Buddy Robinson of Sherman; two daughters, Lawana Downs and husband Mike of Van Alstyne, Texas and Carolyn Schmitz and husband Burl of Sherman; six grandchildren, Chris Schmitz of McKinney, Heather Schmitz of Sherman, Guinnevere Simons of Bells, Mike Downs, Jr. of Sherman, and Trey and Shelby Downs of Van Alstyne; and seven great grandchildren. Mary Lee was preceded in death by her parents, Lela and Charlie Oliver; two brothers, Buddy and Jack Oliver; one sister, Rena (Sissy) Merritt; and one son, Wayne Robinson.
