Obituary

Mary (Holbert) Ulch passed from this life, with her daughter Hannah watching over her, on Sunday, August 20, 2023. Mary was born in Childress, Texas on January 8, 1958, to Leroy and Hellen Holbert.

Mary was a caregiver at heart and served as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Wysong in McKinney, Texas for many years. She loved helping others and making their journey through illness a bit easier to bear with her joyful spirit and loving heart.

Mary loved her family so deeply and was often heard saying, "I need my hugs!" She always said hugs sustained her. And she gave the best hugs. She loved singing and listening to gospel music. She loved sewing, quilting, and yarn crafting. She loved birds and flowers.

The purity of her love enveloped anyone she was near. I think all of us want to be able to say, at the end of our lives, that we made a difference. Mary did. Her smile was like sunshine and had the ability to clear away the most formidable clouds of sadness or unhappiness. I'm not saying that she never had a storm cloud over her visage. She had that special ability to stop you in your tracks with just a look. I think all momma's have it but hers worked on people that weren't even her kids! She had a twinkle in her eye that you could see. She had a giggle that made hearts smile. We are all better for having had her in our lives. Our Mary will live on in our hearts.

Mary is survived by her husband, Frank Ulch; her daughter Hannah (McClung) Maven and son-in-law Floyd Maven; son Edward McClung and daughter-in-law Theresa; son Aaron McClung; son Michael McClung; grand-daughters Valencia, Rose, Haley, Megan, and Casey McClung, Lillith Cotter, Violet Ship, and Jazmine Gleason; grand-sons Damian Lupo and Juriel Gleason; her sisters Marsha (Holbert) Fulton, Cathy (Holbert) White, and Lorretta Holbert; her brothers Robby Holbert and wife Everetta, and Chester Holbert and wife Andrea. She is preceded in death by her parents Leroy and Hellen Holbert; sisters Debby (Holbert) Collins and Delores Holbert; and brothers-in-law James Fulton and Keith White.

A funeral celebrating Mary's life will be held at 10:00 am Thursday, August 24, in the Waldo Funeral Home Chapel, 619 N. Travis St, Sherman, Tx.
