Melba Jean Sutterfield was born on September 15, 1949, in Bonham, Texas. Six days after her 75th birthday, she passed away on Saturday, September 21, 2024, in Sherman, Texas. She was proud of her work as the Child Nutrition Supervisor for Sherman Independent School District where she served for 42 years before retiring in 2022. Melba enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and traveling the U.S. to attend bowling tournaments with her husband and bowling friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother Mary Sutterfield, Father George Sutterfield, Sister Elaine Cline and husband Billy Jack Runnels.

She is survived by her three daughters, Crystal Robertson and husband Clint Hollingshead, Gina Rodgers and husband Steve, Cheryl Upvall and husband David. She is also survived by her sister Bobbie Reatherford and six grandchildren, Lauren and Gabe Rodgers, Nathan, Aslynn and Jack Upvall and Bre Heath.

Family visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, from 5-7pm at Waldo Funeral Home, Sherman. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at 10am at Waldo Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Forest Grove Cemetery in Telephone, Texas.
