IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Minnie Lee
Jones
September 14, 1927 – December 18, 2023
Minnie Lee (Lynch) Jones of Denison, Texas passed into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior on December 18, 2023, at her home surrounded by her loved ones. She was 96 years old.
Minnie was born in Denison September 14, 1927, to Walter Marvin Lynch and Jessie Emma Abney Lynch. She was the baby of the family of five children and was adored by them all. Even at 96 she would continue to remind everyone that she was the baby of the family.
Minnie graduated from Denison High School and went to work for the Corp of Engineers as a messenger girl. She then attended Bethany Nazarene College (now Nazarene Southern University) where she excelled in typing and bookkeeping skills. She came back to Denison and worked as a bookkeeper several places including Central Freight Lines, Keith Drug and Southern Ice among others. She had such a love of people that she went into sales. She was so enthusiastic and enjoyed making people happy that she excelled in that at Browns Shoe Fit, Coxes and other stores. At one point in time she enjoyed selling Avon and demonstrating Wonder Bread in stores and door to door.
Minnie married her true love, William Kenneth Jones at her parents' home on February 5, 1949 during the great ice storm. They have celebrated just shy of 75 wonderful years together. They were vitally involved in the First Church of the Nazarene teaching Sunday School classes and overseeing the evening Nazarene Young Peoples' Society. They hosted many fun social gatherings with these young people in their home. They continued to be involved in church while living in Arkansas and in Ft Worth, Texas. Minnie was not shy about her love for the Lord. Almost daily, even at the end of dementia she would say, "I'm so glad we are Christians! The good Lord is watching over us!" She continued to sing hymns (especially, Victory In Jesus) up until the very end. She received such a blessing from it.
Minnie's hobby was camping and travel. She was most at home in the outdoors sitting with a glass of iced tea. She traveled with Kenneth for his work with the USDA and they also took many personal trips traveling to England, Scotland, Canada, Mexico and the majority of the United States. Minnie was loyal to Texas and never missed an opportunity to say how wonderful Denison, Texas was. She never met a stranger and would strike up a conversation even if they didn't speak her language.
Survivors are Husband: William Kenneth Jones, Daughter: Beverly Kay (Jones) Shires (husband Gayle) of Denison, Son: Kenneth Edwin Jones (wife Deb) of Greenwood, Arkansas, 5 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by: Parents: Walter Marvin and Jessie Emma Lynch, Siblings: precious sister, Audrey and Brothers Cleo, Norman and W.M. Lynch.
Pallbearers will be Braxon DeLoach, Kevan Anthony, Blaine Vick, Brandon Heineman, and Jeff Elmore.
The family would like to give special thanks to Minnie's wonderful caregiver, Jamie Hambrick, the care team from Grayson County Home Hospice and special neighbor, Enola Newland.
Minnie was full of life and joy. She found the "good" in every person and everything. She is rejoicing in Heaven and is fully expecting everyone to join her there one day.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm, Thursday, December 21st, at Waldo Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 2:30 pm, Friday, December 22nd, in the Chapel of Waldo Funeral Home. Rev. Brian Taylor of Forest Avenue Baptist Church will officiate.
