Moses Clarence Moore, the fifth of eight children born to the late Charlie C. and Evelyn F. Moore of Denison, Texas, brought joy and happiness to the world when he arrived on April 28th, 1947. He was a devout member of Mount Zion Baptist Church throughout his childhood and accepted Christ as his personal Savior at a young age. He attended Denison Public Schools before entering the military service as a young man.
Moses joined the United States Marine Corps on April 1st, 1969, and served his country both at home and abroad through April 12th, 1974. Achieving the rank of Sergeant while stationed in Vietnam, he earned numerous commendations for his service to the nation including the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm. Upon returning to his home he attended Grayson County College before entering into the workforce at Levi Strauss' Denison, Texas manufacturing plant. His good work in his hometown led to a promotion and relocation to Amarillo, Texas where he would serve as Production Manager until 1995. He would then go on to serve as Director of Security for Northwest Texas Hospitals until his retirement in 2011.
He married the love of his life, Kathleen Maria Moore, on August 23, 1991, in Amarillo, Texas. After their marriage, they became a family of five children; Rick, Lamont, Shawn, Chris, and Krystal. Finally, their union produced their youngest child, Aurelia.
Moses entered eternal rest on Wednesday, April 30th, 2025, in Farmersville, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers William, Frank, and Curtis Moore, two sisters Evelyn Woods and Barbara Harper, sons Rick Moore and Lamont Francis, and nephew Darrin Victor Harper. He leaves a lifetime of memories to his wife of 35 years, Kathleen, and 4 children: Shawn Francis of Asbury Park, New Jersey, Krystal Crawley of Denison, Texas, Chris Mitchell of Amarillo, Texas, and Aurelia Moore of Dallas, Texas,
His siblings Betty Ray of Sachse, Texas, James Moore of Grapevine, Texas.
11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
A public visitation will be Wednesday, May 7th from 5 P.M. to 7 P.M. at Waldo Funeral Home in Sherman.
The funeral service will be Thursday, May 8th at 11 A.M. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 530 W. Walker in Denison. Rev. James Wilson will be officiating and Rev. K. W. King will deliver the eulogy.
Burial will be Friday, May 9th at 9 A.M. at the D.F.W. National Cemetery in Dallas with full military honors by the U.S. Marines.
