Noble retired from the Sherman Fire Department on July 31, 1994, after 27 dedicated years of service.

Known affectionately as "Pappy" by his grandchildren and great grandchildren, Noble had a love for fishing, old westerns with John Wayne, metal detecting, the occasional trip to the casino and a good bowl of chocolate ice cream.

Some of "The Nobes" most treasured moments were had sharing conversations and reminiscing over coffee on Friday morning at Grandys with his retired brothers from the Fire Department.

Noble is preceded in death by his wife Patsy, son James Cornell Thomas, brother TJ Thomas and his parents.

He is survived by his sister Barbara Plumlee and husband Joe of Sherman, son Ralph Thomas of Denison, daughter Debbie Bennett and husband Mike of Sherman, daughter in law Monica Boatner of Sherman, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren and his constant companion and "Grandcat", Chloe.

The family would like to extend their appreciation and thanks to Interim Home Health and Home Hospice of Grayson County for providing Noble with an exceptional and dignified level of care, comfort and compassion during his final chapter.

Last but not least, a heartfelt thank you to his special caregiver, Lee Ann Lee, who went above and beyond what was asked and who became not only a special friend to Noble, but a cherished friend to the family who will always hold a close place in our hearts.

The funeral service will be held at 2pm Tuesday, December 12, in the Chapel of Waldo Funeral Home. Rev. Brian Taylor of Forest Avenue Baptist Church will officiate.
