Obituary

Norma Jeanne Barrington Lane entered heaven at 1:30 AM March 5, 2024.  Norma was born January 19, 1930, to Harlan Edward and Claudia Viola Ray Barrington in Sherman, TX.

Norma graduated from Sherman High School in 1947 and North Texas State University in 1950.  She was a North Texas cheerleader the first year that females could be elected and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in education.

Norma married Paul Glen Lane September 3, 1950.  From this union they had three children over the 53 years before his passing – Lisa Thornhill (Garry), Paul David Lane and Ted Edward Lane (Janie).  She also had grandchildren, Monica Thornhill Jackson (Paul), Garrett Thornhill (Nicole), Ben Lane (Joanna), Harlan Lane and Roxanne Lane.  She was a loving great grandmother to Will Jackson, Georgia Jackson and Gray Thornhill.

Norma taught school for 20 years beginning and ending in Sherman.  First Baptist Church of Sherman has been her church home since 1962.  She taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, worked on many committees, including the decorating committee.  Her community activities included; Retired Teachers Association, Rio Rojo Book Club, Ethen Renfroe Book Club, and numerous bridge clubs.

Norma was preceded in death by her husband, Paul and her parents, Harlan and Viola Barrington.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Annie Ezell, Tomyra Britt, and Veronica Ezell whose daily love, care and devotion was essential to Mrs. Lane's wellbeing.

The family will receive friends on Friday, March 8, 2024, from 6:00PM-8:00PM at Waldo Funeral Home.  Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at 3:00 PM at Waldo Funeral Home Chapel.  Dr. Micheal Lawson of First Baptist Church will officiate.

Pallbearers will be Garrett Thornhill, Paul Jackson, Will Jackson, Ben Lane, Harlan Lane, Landon Pardee.
