Sherman- Funeral services for Norman Neal Nash will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, November 5 at the First Baptist Church of Sherman. Dr. Mike Lawson will officiate. Burial will follow at Friendship Cemetery with Ronald Ray, Michael Ray, Andrew Henderson, Gus Wingfield, Mike Coulter, and Tom Thomas serving as pallbearers. His grandsons, Slaton and Spencer will be honorary pallbearers. Mr. Nash, 92, passed away Friday, November 2 at Wilson N. Jones Regional Medical Center.
Norman was born May 31, 1926 in Antoine, Arkansas to the late Theron and Eula (Wingfield) Nash and served in the US Navy during World War II and Korea. On October 14, 1950, he and Betty Ray were married in Prescott, Arkansas. Mr. Nash retired from Texas Instruments after 36 years and was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Sherman. Norman had a lifelong passion for the outdoors and the conservation of nature. He was an avid bird hunter and raised many bird dogs over the years. Until the age of 89, he enjoyed competing in field trials with his dogs and credited those activities for "keeping him young."
Mr. Nash is survived by his wife of 68 years, Betty of Sherman; son, Nathan Nash and wife Melissa of Albuquerque, New Mexico; and two grandsons, Slaton and Spencer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Theron and Eula Nash; brother, Hubert Nash; and sister, Marie Dixon.
The family will receive friends from 3:00-5:00 PM Sunday at Waldo Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Preserving the Legacy Fund at First Baptist Church of Sherman, 400 S. Travis, Sherman, TX 75090. The register book can be signed at waldofuneralhome.com.
