Following a long illness Patricia Ann Sims Stewart, age 85, of Dorchester, Texas passed to her final reward just before noon on November 16, 2024.
Patricia was born April 2, 1939 in Sherman, Texas. She attended Sherman public schools, graduating from Sherman High School in 1957, and received her bachelor's degrees in business and education from the University of Texas, and master's degree in education from East Texas State University.
Patricia married Stanley Stewart in 1962. She taught in the Tom Bean, Howe and Gunter public schools and after retiring, worked as a Master Teacher for the Texas A & M system.
Patricia was active in First Baptist Church Dorchester as church pianist from 1962 until 2019. She also served as an elected member of the Howe School Board, won many academic and teaching awards, and was selected for the Howe Hall of Honor in 2021.
Patricia is survived by a daughter, Kimberly and her husband Bryan Dodson, their children, Emily and Matthew Dodson, a son, Kenneth and his wife Aura Stewart, Brother and Sisters-in-laws, Robert and Barbara Welch, Willam and Emily Powell, Shirley Stewart, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends accumulated over her lifetime.
Patricia is preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Stewart, parents, Henry and Edith Kathleen Sims, a brother, Donald Sims, a daughter Sherry, her father and mother-in-law, Rush and Emma Stewart, and brother-in-law, Robert Stewart.
The family will receive visitors at the First Baptist Church Dorchester on Friday night between 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be performed at First Baptist Church Dorchester at 2:OO PM on Saturday, November 23,2024. A graveside service at West Hill Cemetery will follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the First Baptist Church Dorchester or a health-related charity of their choice.
