Obituary

Patricia Adams‑Womack, born July 29, 1946, in Dallas, Texas, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 1, 2026, surrounded by loved ones. Her life was one of devotion—to her family, her work, her community, and the subjects she cherished most: history and politics.

Patricia grew up in Sherman, Texas, alongside her older brothers. She attended Washington Elementary and graduated from Sherman High School in 1963. Guided by a deep love of learning, she earned her Associate of Arts degree from Grayson County College. She later received her Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of North Texas.

On October 1, 1976, Patricia married Olin Ray Womack. Together, they shared 40 years of marriage until Ray's passing in 2016.

Patricia built a long and respected career as an escrow officer at Sherman Title Company on the square in downtown Sherman, where she worked for more than 25 years. She was known for her professionalism and the genuine care she showed to colleagues and clients alike.

In her spare time, Patricia found joy in knitting and crocheting, and she was rarely without a book, most often one rooted in the history she loved so dearly. She and Ray were also active members of the Grayson County Republican Party, where Patricia's passion for politics and civic engagement found a meaningful home.

Patricia was preceded in death by her husband, Olin Ray Womack; her parents, Alton and Lillie (Dove) Adams; and her brothers, Alton "Sonny" Adams and Donny Mack Adams.

She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Rick and Linicia Humphrey of Athens, Texas, and Thad and Jessica Walters of Denison, Texas. She leaves behind her beloved grandchildren—Kaylee Walters‑Beard, Jude and wife Kerra Walters, Kyelee Walters, Melissa Humphrey, Jolie Humphrey, and Des Humphrey—as well as her great-grandchildren Hagen, Gracelin, and Joey, who brought her immense joy.

Patricia is also survived by her brothers-in-law, Butch Hilliard (Karen), Cecil Womack, and Michael Womack (Lanelle), and her sisters-in-law, Cindi Adams and Franciss Womack.

Family visitation will be held on Thursday, March 5, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Waldo Funeral Home. Funeral services will take place on Friday, March 6, at 2:00 p.m. at Akers Cemetery in Sherman, Texas.

Patricia will be remembered for her sharp mind, her gentle humor, her loyalty, and the quiet strength she carried throughout her life. Her legacy lives on in the family she loved so deeply.

"Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised. Honor her for all that her hands have done and let her works bring her praise at the city gate." — Proverbs 31:30–31
