Paula Jean (Smith) Ferguson was born on Friday, August 21, 1936 in Sherman, Texas to Thedford and Zora (Dyer) Smith and passed from this life on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 in Sherman at the age of 79.
Paula was a lifelong resident of Sherman. She married the love of her life, John Dorman Ferguson, on June 18th, 1960 in Sherman. He preceded her in death on September 24, 1994. Paula was employed as an accountant with the Hardwicke-Etter Company for 22 years and with CDT Supply for 26 years before her retirement. Paula was a member of the Woodlawn Country Club for many years. She was an avid and very active golfer with the Ladies Golf Association. Paula was a member of the North Park Baptist Church. Outside of golfing, her true passion was being with her grandchildren and going to horse races. She also loved the Texas Rangers, Dallas Mavericks, and Dallas Cowboys.
Paula was also preceded in death by her parents; son, Ryon; brother, Terry; parents-in-law, Dorman and Mildred Ferguson; sisters-in-law, Judy and Janice; and nephew, John Waw.
She is survived by her sons, Craig Ferguson and Steve Ferguson and his wife, Shanda; grandson, J.R. Ferguson; granddaughters, Fallon Ferguson, Lauren Ferguson and Averie Young; great grandson, Caleb Ferguson all of Sherman, TX; sister, Saunda O'Connell and her husband, Tom of Allen, TX; sisters-in-law, Shirley Smith of Clovis, NM, and Phyllis Waw of Sherman, TX; brother-in-law, Jim Ferguson of Sherman, TX; and several nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services for Paula will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, October 19th, at Waldo Funeral Home chapel with Pastor Tim Harkins officiating. Interment will follow at West Hill Cemetery with Randy Carter, Michael Carter, Eddie Waw, Alex Waw, Shane Carroll and Brett Clark serving as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Terry Lee Smith and Vance Ferguson.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, Oct. 18th, from 6-8 PM at Waldo Funeral Home.
