Paulette L. Pugh, née Carney, born March 12, 1942, in Southmayd, Texas, passed away peacefully on September 11, 2026. She grew up in Southmayd, where she attended school and began building the foundation of the strength, independence, and kindness that would define her life.

Paulette spent many years in Texas before moving to New Mexico, where she served as a safety administrator for the federal government, working in both salt and uranium mines. Her dedication to protecting workers and improving safety standards earned her deep respect throughout her career. She later continued her professional journey in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, working with Phillips Petroleum. After retiring, she returned home to Texas, settling in Sherman and enjoying her later years surrounded by familiar places and people she loved.

In 1969, Paulette married John F. Pugh, her partner in life for 55 years until his passing on March 17, 2024. Together they raised three sons — Tony (Laura), Todd (Tina), and Phil (Brandi) — who were the pride of her life. She also leaves behind several grandchildren and great‑grandchildren, each of whom carries a piece of her spirit forward.

Paulette was a woman of quiet strength, steady devotion, and deep love for her family. Her life was marked by hard work, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to those she cared for. She touched countless lives with her warmth, her honesty, and her ability to make others feel supported and valued.

A graveside service will be held Sunday September 20 10:00 a.m. at Sadler Cemetery in coordination with Waldo Funeral home in Sherman.

Her legacy lives on in the family she raised, the lives she protected, and the love she gave so freely.
