Pete Nicholas was born on December 6, 1942, to Arthur Lee and Gracie Mae Nicholas, the sixth of eleven children. He addended schools in Denison, TX. Pete worked as an automotive repairman for 45 + years, and as a farmer/rancher for 55 years. He married Judy Randall on July 27, 1963. They were blessed with 50 years of marriage before her passing in August 2013.
Pete was a hard worker, taking care of his chickens, pigs, and cattle early in the morning before he left for work at Team Bonner in Denison, TX. In the evenings he came home and again began working in the garden, feeding cows, building fences, mowing, hauling hay, and all the many duties of maintaining his herd and taking care of the ranch. He always made time to attend the school activities of his children, grandchildren, and great-granddaughter, Rylee.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Nicholas of Colbert; his children, Becky and Del McCammack of Howe, Randy Nicholas, and Sherri Bell of Durant; siblings, Art and Beverly Nicholas of Wichita Falls, Virgie and Norman Arnold of Ravenna, Ellen Burger of Denison, Polly and Calvin McFadden of Sherman, Jerry and Wanda Nicholas of Denison, Sherry Watson of Denison, and Mike and Grace Nicholas of Sherman; grandson, Chris and Kari Valles of Howe, Kelly and Layne Johnson of Denison, and Kevin and Katie McCammack of Rockwall, and 3 great-granddaughters, Rylee Valles, Joyce and Dixie McCammack. He is also survived by his stepson Richard and Tonie Hopkins of Colbert, OK and stepdaughter, Cindy, and Jeff Carter of Calera, Ok, their children and grandchildren.
Family night will be Monday, January 2 nd at Waldo Funeral Home in Sherman from 6-8pm. Funeral service will be Tuesday, January 3 rd at Waldo Chapel at 1pm with Bro. Keith Taylor officiating. Graveside services will follow at Akers Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Gary Weger, Gilbert Bennett, Don Sinor, Chris Valles, Kelly Johnson, Kevin McCammack, and Del McCammack.
