Ralph Eugene McCloud of Sherman, Tx, passed away June 30, 2023, surrounded by his family. Ralph gave his best fight while suffering from Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis.
Ralph was born in Duncan Oklahoma. He was the youngest son born to Robert and Felice McCloud. He was a 1963 graduate of Carmi-White High School in Carmi, Illinois. Ralph lived in 21 different towns, following his dad, Robert, who worked for Gulf Oil.
In 1966, Ralph enlisted in the United States Air Force. He served in Vietnam as an Aircraft Radio Repair Specialist. After two tours of duty, he had earned his Small Arms Marksmanship Ribbon, Vietnam Service Medal, Good Conduct Air Force Medal and National Service Medal.
Being a radio specialist put him on a career path to Texas Instruments. While working there, he met his bride to be Francis Acosta. They would move to Sherman, Tx, where they had 2 children.
Ralph retired from Texas Instruments/Raytheon at the age of 60. After retirement, he took up studying to be a locksmith. He was a great master tinkerer around the house.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Felice Smith McCloud, as well as his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Francisco and Amparo Acosta.
Surviving are his wife, Francis Acosta McCloud of Sherman; a son, Michael Allen McCloud, his wife Ashley Carroll McCloud, their children, Dalaine and Aiden McCloud, all of Tom Bean, Tx; a daughter, Levonne McCloud Reynolds, her husband, Jay Reynolds, their children, Henry, George and Lillian, all of Allen, Tx.; a sister; Yvonne Rexius, of Douglas, Wyoming, her son, Tony Rust and his wife, Janet of Eugene, Oregon; and many great nieces and nephews.
Services are under the direction of Waldo Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 10 am, Thursday, July 6th at Chapel on the Hill at Cedarlawn Memorial Park. Military honors will follow at the gravesite at Cedarlawn Memorial Park.
Rev. Brian Taylor of Forest Avenue Baptist Church will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Tony Carroll, Tyler Carroll, Michael Denison, Chad Baker, Aiden McCloud, and James Pecor.
