Retta Jo Dawson was born November 9, 1950, in Denison, TX to the parents of Joe B. Dawson (Deceased) and Loretta Dawson.  God called Retta home to her final resting place on April 13, 2023.  Retta began her education by attending and graduating high school from Denison Independent Schools.  She also attended Cosmetology School and became well known for her ability to make those around her look their best.  Retta wore multiple hats when it came to her career such as phlebotomy, working at Texas Instruments, and becoming a registered CNA at Homestead of Denison, Tx for many years until she proudly retired.  Retta was regarded as very dependable, kind-hearted, strong willed, and loving.  Taking care of her children and her family were the most important tasks of her life.  She took great pride in raising her two daughters and giving them the wisdom, they live by.  Retta was preceded in death by her brothers Joe Dawson and Tommy Dawson.  Retta is survived by her daughters Cassaundra Bell of Van Alstyne, Tx, Mellanie Barnum of Sherman, Tx, grandchildren Chlolisha Bell of Sherman, Tx, Trenton Bell of Van Alstyne, Tx, Michelle Bell of Denison, Tx, Braydon Roberts of Durant, Ok, Alauna Luper of Sherman, Tx, and two great-grandchildren.  She was also the eldest of fourteen brothers and sisters and survived by a host of nieces and nephews.

A public visitation will be Thursday, April 20 ^th from 3 P.M. to 7 P.M. at Waldo Funeral Home.

The graveside service will be Friday, April 21 ^st at 11 A.M. in Magnolia Cemetery, 1400 N. Juanita, Denison with her nephew, Rev. Thomas Dawson officiating.
