Robert (Bob) Weldon Shearin's Obituary

Robert (Bob) W. Shearin came into this world on June 11, 1957, and departed on September 19, 2018, but he did a whole lot of living in between. He came to Harold Earl (deceased) and Doris L. Shearin when he was seven months old. He was a beautiful brown-eyed baby boy who brought much joy to his adopted parents and his two doting older sisters, Jeanne Shearin Cummings and Aleta Shearin Oppermann. He went to grade school and junior high school at Duncanville and subsequently graduated from Kimball High School in Dallas. He grew up in Duncanville where he and his family were members of Northside Baptist Church which they faithfully attended for many years.

Bob was a talented athlete and seemed to excel in every sport he tried, being particularly skilled in golfing. He so easily mastered sports that he never worked at improving. He had a short attention span and was content with besting an opponent and then moving on to something else. He entered the United States Navy when he was 19, specializing in electronics. This parlayed into a life-long career and a love affair with computers.

Bob married Sonja Wyrick in 1985 and two children came of this union, Krystal Shearin Hollis and Robert, Jr. Sadly this union did not last, and Bob later married Kimberly Hardy, and treated her sons, Keith, Dwyte and Gregory as his own.

Bob had been a wild child, and enjoyed many of his early years riding motorcycles, drinking hard and partying often. He was charming and friendly and never met a stranger. That, coupled with an innate joie de vivre and a keen sense of humor, made him an outstanding salesman. One of his endearing qualities is that he rarely ever said a mean thing about other people, even when he had clearly been the brunt of someone else's poor behavior. Well until the end of an extremely debilitating disease, he was upbeat and would have a smile on his face despite tremendous pain.

Undying thanks to his life-long friend, Morris Barton, who has been Bob's around the clock caretaker and advocate. Morris has gone above and beyond the call of duty, and the family owes him a huge debt of gratitude which can never be repaid. The family also wishes to thank Bob's oncology doctor. Dr. Amir Faridi, who against all odds, gave Bob an extra 4 years.

Bob is survived by his children, Krystal and her spouse Stacie Hollis and Robert Jr. and his spouse Crystal Neeley, his grandchildren, Khloe Gannon, Makensie Hollis, Aubrie Hollis, Isis Hollis, A.J. Hernandez, Braylee Shearin, Shawn Shearin and Skyler Shearin, his mother, Doris, and his two sisters. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
