Roger Mack Davis was born Friday, August 16, 1935 in Collinsville, Texas to Bishop and Vera (Jenkins) Davis and passed from this life on Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at Beacon Hill Care Center in Denison, Texas at the age of 80.
Roger was a lifelong resident of Grayson County. He grew up in the Gunter community and graduated high school in 1955. He attended the University of North Texas and worked for Sherman Manufacturing (Burlington Industries), from 1957 until the plant closed. Roger then drove a school bus for Sherman ISD and worked for Walmart as a greeter. He retired in 2009 as his health began to decline. Roger worked tirelessly to provide and give his loving wife Dortha and daughter all that life offered. Roger loved and enjoyed his grandkids and loved his baseball. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, and was a member of Forest Avenue Baptist Church.
Welcoming him to his eternal home were his parents, sisters Nelda Davis and Vera Davis Turner, and brother Don Davis.
Mourning his loss is daughter, Angela Davis Grayson and her two sons, Zack Hudson and Garrett Grayson; step-son, Larry Williams and his wife Rita and their children, Karen Williams Larsen and husband, Loren and Jennifer Williams Hix and husband, Chris, and eight great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Emma Davis Gronemeier, sister-in-law, Patricia Davis, and brother-in-law, Loyd Turner and several nieces and nephews.
Services to celebrate Roger's life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 13, at Waldo Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Danny Wood officiating. Interment will follow at Collinsville Cemetery with Garrett Grayson, Zack Hudson, Ken Davis, Craig Davis, Loren Larsen and Christopher Hix serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends on Friday, Aug. 12, from 6-8 PM at Waldo Funeral Home.
