Roger Deen Harrell
He was born December 10, 1942 and went peacefully to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ at age 67 on August 4, 2010.
He was a faithful Husband, Father and Papa survived by his loving wife Julie Harrell of 43 years who were blessed with 2 children, Roger Jr. (Wife Deanna) and Amanda Scott (Husband David). Roger Jr. has given them 6 grandchildren: Brett Michael, Britany Michele, Zachariah Nelson, Josiah James, Nathaniel Logan and Hannah Ann-Elise. Amanda also has given them 3 granddaughters: Lindsey Morgan, Morgan Malynn and Laney Raeann.
He faithfully and honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War earning the Bronze Star, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Purple Heart, Combat Infantryman Badge, Marksman (Rifle) Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.
He served the City of Dallas and its residence as a Fireman for the Dallas Fire Department for 32 years and 8 months retiring at the rank of Captain in February of 1997 and received many commendations for his service.
He believed what the Bible says in 2 Peter 3:9, that God is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. His prayer was that all of you who read this would take John 3:16 seriously which says, "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
He would have us remember one thing: know Jesus, live, walk, trust and rest in Him. His family cherishes the memories of his faithful love for all, which was rooted in Jesus faithful love for him.
