IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ross Russell
Brown
March 20, 1947 – October 9, 2023
Ross Russell Brown, age 76, passed away peacefully on October 9, 2023. He was born on March 20, 1947, to Phyllis (Kidd) Brown and Russell Brown of Philipsburg, Quebec.
Ross spent most of his life working in construction and in the 1970s, he began his approximate twenty-year career as a salesman with AG Anderson. In the 1990s, Ross became an estimator with S.D. Ireland Corporation, where he remained for several years.
Some of Ross's favorite memories involved hockey and travel. He raised his daughter to love travel, exposing the family to multiple vacations to Florida and other places up and down the east coast. He raised his son to love hockey and was part of countless youth hockey trips that took the family on adventures across Canada and New England. His passion for the sport was lifelong and he loved attending professional games, as an avid Montreal Canadiens fan, and enjoyed having family around to watch Hockey Night in Canada.
Ross, being very mechanically inclined, was never afraid to take on a challenging home improvement project and even helped build his family's first home.
Ross also loved music, but especially The Eagles, John Cougar Mellencamp, and Elton John. In his final days, he conveyed his wish to have everyone remember him with the song, "Don't let the sun go down on me."
Above all, Sunday dinners at his parents' home in Philipsburg were a tradition close to Ross's heart. They were the hallmark of his love for his family and where stories were shared.
Surviving Ross include: his daughter, Heather Moreau and her husband Jeff of Texas; his son, Matthew Brown and his wife Patty of Vermont; his grandchildren, Katelynn Delaplaine and her husband Ian of Texas, Ryan Brown of New York, and Corey Brown of Vermont, and his great-grandson, Jackson Brown of New York. Up until the very end of his life, Ross spoke often to Alec Campbell of Vermont and Heather Brown of Ontario who were close friends as well as family.
A graveside service will be held at the Protestant/Anglican Cemetery at 73 South Street, in Philipsburg, Quebec on Friday, November 24, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. Following the ceremony, immediate family members will gather for private grieving. No public event will follow.
