Roy Lee Lemley, 86 years old, of Sherman, died at his home, Sunday, August 17, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Roy was born April 21, 1939, in Cowden, Illinois, a son of William Roke and Irene I. (Lancaster) Lemley. He was a graduate of Rexroat High School in Oklahoma.

On July 4th, 1959, Roy married Jessie A. Vaughan in Wilson, Oklahoma.  For 27 years, Roy installed carpet for Knight's Furniture in Sherman, TX.

Roy was a longtime member of Merriman Hills Baptist Church in Sherman.

In his retirement, he enjoyed classic cars, attending car shows, and repairing automobiles. He also enjoyed traveling to Branson and square dancing. Often, he was found relaxing in his recliner, watching westerns on television.

Roy is survived by his wife Jessie Lemley of Sherman; son, Robert "Bob" Lemley and wife, Kathi of Denison, TX; grandchildren, Michell Johnson and husband Brad of Bells, TX, Josh Lemley of Denton, TX, Shawna Lemley and Wes of Euless, TX; 8 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are inherited children, Kay and Norman Mutchler, Stephanie and Keith Rayburn of Coppell, TX, John and Mary Larson of Benbrook, TX; 8 chosen grandchildren and 15 chosen grandchildren, 3 sisters in law, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Roke and Irene Lemley; brothers, Tom Lemley and his wife, Linda, and Gene Lemley and his wife, Dorothy (Dot); son, Mike Lemley; grandson, Michael Lemley; and chosen child, Robbie Silkwood.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, August 22nd, at Hewitt Cemetery in Wilson, Oklahoma. Rev. Mike Perry of Merriman Hills Baptist Church will officiate.
