Rufus Dwight McLaughlin
Rufus Dwight McLaughlin passed away on Tuesday, June 9, 2020, at the Texoma Medical Center, Denison, Texas at the age of 77 years.
Born June, 2, 1943 in Gainesville, Texas, the son of Willis Leroy "Bear" McLaughlin and Mable Marie Buchanan McLaughlin.
Dwight was a graduate of the Thackerville High School-Class of 1961. Dwight served in the US Army for two years. He played High School Basketball and was a very avid fan of his daughter, Jennifer McLaughlin and his son, Grady McLaughlin, who both played High School Basketball at Slidell, Texas. He never missed one of their games no matter if they played at home or away from home. He was also an avid fan of the Oklahoma Sooners and The Dallas Mavericks.
Dwight and Marsha Norris, were married on February 26, 1992 in Slidell, Texas. They lived in Sherman, Texas at the time of his death.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Willis Leroy "Bear" McLaughlin and Mable Marie McLaughlin and his brother, Gregory Keith "Greg" McLaughlin.
Survivors include his wife, Marsha McLaughlin, of the home; daughter, Jennifer McLaughlin and spouse of Corinth, Texas, son, Grady McLaughlin and fiance of Denton, Texas, daughter, Alee McKinney and spouse of Sherman, Texas and son, Shane Jeter and spouse of Gainesville, Texas, brother, Leroy McLaughlin and spouse of Wynnewood, OK, sister, Brenda Dean and spouse of Marietta, OK, sister, Cyndy Green of Burneyville, OK, sister, Debra Dedek and spouse of Marietta, OK and brother, Gary McLaughlin and spouse of Valley View, Texas; grandsons, Grayden McLaughlin, Kobe McLaughlin, Sterling McLaughlin and Austin Jeter; granddaughters, Wren McKinney, Brooke McKinney and Chloe Jeter; cousin, Junior McLaughlin and spouse of Thackerville, OK.; numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great- great nieces and nephews.
No services will be planned which was Dwight's request. His family will have a private memorial for him at a later date.
