IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Sandra "Sandy"
Garrison
December 17, 1935 – May 4, 2024
Sandra (Sandy) Claire Garrison, age 88, peacefully passed away Saturday, May 4, 2024 at her home in Denison, TX.
She was born on December 17, 1935 in Mooringsport, LA to Mary "Eva" and Wilbur A. Seybert. She graduated from Mooringsport High School in 1953 and married James Edward Garrison shortly afterwards. They raised their family of five children in Fort Wayne, IN where she supported his businesses and worked several other jobs. In 1979 they relocated to Denison, TX. They were avid boaters and motorcycle enthusiasts.
For 20 years, Sandy proudly worked as a veterinary technician with Dr. Butler at Best Friends Animal Hospital in Denison, TX. Her dedication extended beyond her professional role—she played an integral part in establishing the Denison Animal Welfare Group (DAWG) in 2014 and volunteered tirelessly, wearing multiple hats. Sandy also had a keen interest in photography, cherished her coffee and wine friends, and thrived on connecting with others, especially online.
Sandy is survived by her four daughters, Cindy and husband, Stan Huth of Denison, TX; Debbie and husband, Dwight Nieb of Surprise, AZ; Mary and husband, Tony Bekkum of Ft. Wayne, IN; Janet and husband, Dennis Wilson of Pottsboro, TX; seven grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and her dog, Maddie. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, James E. Garrison; son, James M. Garrison; and grandson, Joseph Garrison Huth.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 10th at St. Mary's Cemetery in Sherman, TX.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to her cherished non-profit organization, DAWG, POB 1330, Denison, TX 75020, or online at denisonanimalwelfaregroup.org.
