Obituary

C. Scott McCoy

Scott McCoy, 50, was taken home peacefully by Our Heavenly Father on July 22, 2014. He bravely fought brain cancer for 4 years. Never was there a man as loved and cherished as him. Beloved by all who knew him, Scott had a huge personality that just drew people to him.

Scott was born on June 24, 1964, to Carl and Ruby McCoy in Elgin, Illinois. He was the baby of the family with 4 older sisters. Illinois was his home until 1991 when he moved to Texas to start a new adventure in his life. There, he met the love of his life, Karen, on October 8, 2003. They were married 4 months later on February 15, 2004.

He was an avid weight lifter and loved going to the gym to keep fit. Football was his favorite sport and he lived for the beginning of football season, to route his Pittsburgh Steelers and Notre Dame Fighting Irish on to a win. He was a graphic designer by trade. He loved his work and was very good at it.

More than anything, Scott loved spending time with his family. He is survived by his sweetie, Karen, and 2 step-children, Dylan and Dalton Jones. Mother, Ruby McCoy, sister and brother in law, Doretta and Bill Goddard, sister and brother in law, Linda and Terry Ward, sister and brother in law, Neda and Esco Catt, all from Illinois. He also has many nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family.

From Scott's family: We would like to thank the nurses, aides, social workers, chaplain, volunteers, and any others who participated in his care from Home Hospice of Grayson County. They have taken such good care of the entire family since we came into the fold and we are grateful. We would also like to thank Beacon Hill caregivers for the care and compassion they gave to him since he moved there in March. You are all a gift from God that helped give some peace of mind to our family in our time of need.

A memorial service will be held August 9, 2014 at 7 p.m. at Grayson Bible Baptist Church. The service will be officiated by Pastor Roy Webster.
