Sherry Whetstone, 44, of Dallas ascended to her eternal home Saturday, October 10, 2026, at Homestead of Denison after a long and courageous battle.

Sherry was born on March 12, 1982, in McKinney, Texas to Amy ‘Puddin’ Benson (Whetstone). She married Wilbert ‘Bill’ Matlock August 6, 2007.

Sherry leaves behind a legacy of love, family, friends, and cherished memories. She will be deeply missed by her children Janessa Hairston of Melissa, TX, Domineke Hairston of Mansfield, OH, Joshua Taylor and Za’riah Whetstone of Denison, TX, sister Stephanie Benson, brother Joshua Benson, best friends Michelle Hairston and Danielle Parks, her uncle and aunt, and a host of great uncles, great aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Sherry was preceded in death by her mother, Amy Benson and her beloved sister, Barbara Ann Whetstone.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 24, 2026, at 11:30 am at God’s House of Faith and Worship – 320 N Travis Ave. Denison, TX 75020. The family has asked if attending, please wear Sherry’s favorite color purple, black, and/or silver(gray).

The family would like to extend its heartfelt appreciation and give thanks to all who took the time to care for Sherry during this time.
