Funeral Services for Shirley Cantwell will be Thursday, May 30, 2024, at 10 a.m. in the Waldo Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends for visitation Wednesday, May 29, 2024, from 5 until 7 p.m. Burial will follow the funeral at West Hill Cemetery in Sherman, Texas. Pastor Jason Anderson will officiate.
Shirley Cantwell was born on August 1, 1938, in Elizabeth, Arkansas to Carl Elmer Baker and Mildred Opal (Billings) Baker and she peacefully entered heaven on May 25, 2024. She moved to the Sherman area with her family as a child and grew up on the family farm. Shirley graduated from Sherman High School and married Bobby Lee Cantwell on September 22, 1956 at Dripping Springs Baptist Church, Denison. She was a devoted pastor's wife for 55 years until Bob's death in 2012.
Shirley was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Sherman and worked as an insurance processor for various medical practices in the area before her retirement.
Shirley was a beloved mother and a treasured grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by her daughter, Judy Miller and her husband, Rick, of McKinney; her son, Jeff and his wife Vicky, of Chula Vista, California; her daughter, Janice Dalrymple of Sherman; her grandchildren, Lauren Burnside and her husband, JT, of McKinney, Sarah Caldwell and her husband, Trent, of McKinney, Aron Dalrymple, of McKinney, Carlos Lopez of San Leandro, California and Amanda Cantwell of San Francisco, California; her great-grandchildren, Mason Burnside and Tessa and Teagan Caldwell; her brothers, F. Baker, California and Wilburn Baker and his wife, Linda, of Brazil, Indiana; nieces and nephews, cousins, and many dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob, her parents, her brothers, Gene Baker, Horace Baker, and James Baker, and her son-in-law, Pat Dalrymple.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity Baptist Church, 2627 Loy Lake Rd., Sherman, TX 75090.
