Stephen William Coley, beloved husband, brother, uncle, and friend to many, passed away on April 11, 2024, at Medical City Hospital in Plano. He was 72 years old.

Stephen was born on December 23, 1951, in Wichita, Kansas to Anthony and Wanda Coley. Being that his dad was in the service, he found homes in Kansas, Alaska and eventually, ended up back in Sherman.

Steve graduated from Sherman High School in 1970 and continued his education at Tyler Jr. College. Steve found that he had an interest in finance and financial transactions. This interest led him into a banking career. He loved working in the finance industry and was employed at banks in Sherman, Slaton, Denison, Dallas, and Garland.

In 1989 he married the love of his life, Christine Zager and they settled in Plano, Texas. He left banking and found a new use for his experience and skills at Wicks Furniture. When Wicks eventually closed their doors, Steve wanted to do something completely different and applied for a job as a bus driver for the Plano ISD. This was where he found his true calling. He loved the children that rode on his bus as if they were his own. The children returned his love in abundance.  He was a school bus legend. Steve eventually had to leave this position due to medical issues, but he was at his happiest during his tenure as a bus driver for these kids.

Stephen is survived by his wife Christine of Plano, Texas and his sister Lorraine C. Hufford and husband David of Grand Prairie, Texas, and many nephews and nieces.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, David Michael Coley.

A celebration of Life will take place at 2:00 PM on April 26, 2024, at Waldo Funeral Home, followed by interment at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.
