Obituary

Sue Ellen Rennick Hall was born in Wichita, Kansas, on December 13, 1944, to Lois and Lawrence Rennick. Sue had two older brothers, Larry (Toya) Rennick and Walter (Jean) Rennick. She grew up in a Christian home and had many wonderful memories with aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Sue met Charles Lee Hall in high school and they married on June 25, 1966, 58 years ago, after Sue graduated from Emporia State Teachers College in Kansas. She taught school in Wichita, Kansas, until they moved to Plano, Texas. There, Charles began his career at Texas Instruments and two sons were born: Curtis Lee Hall (Holly) – 1969 and Craig Lawrence Hall (Laura) – 1973. During those early years, Sue substitute taught in the public schools and taught preschool. In 1977, Charles was transferred to Sherman, Texas, where they moved into the home where they have resided for 47 years.

Sue and Charles made many wonderful memories and lifelong friends in Sherman. Sue loved all the time spent with her bridge friends, her Friday Zoom friends, her church family, and the rest of their community here. She enjoyed traveling, reading, cheering for the Texas Rangers, watercolor painting....and cats. Her cat, Tom, gave her hours of comfort, sleeping on her lap. Sue served on the Sherman Young Life committee with Charles, in Bible Study Fellowship as a small group leader, and on the Wishing Well board granting wishes for children who had life-altering illnesses. She also tutored children at Master Key Ministries and taught Bible classes to children at Four Rivers services. She was a board member of the International Gospel Outreach to Liberia (IGO) which oversees a Bible School in Liberia for young men, teaching them how to become ministers of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

In 1981, Sue helped establish Texoma Christian School (TCS) at Sherman Bible Church. Sue was its first director, serving in that capacity for 16 years, during which time she watched the school grow into a large presence in the Sherman community. She loved the students and families. Lately she was fond of saying, "My students are leading our world now!" It thrilled her to hear of the achievements of many who had received their education from TCS. Her real fame, however, was that she ate her lunch in a tree following a challenge to the dads to attend a prayer breakfast...something her students never forgot!

Sue's love for children extended into pouring her life into her six grandchildren – Caleb Lee, Joshua Jordan, and Clara Elise, and Timothy Craig (Kennedy and baby Skylar), Karis Lauren, and Parker Joseph. The grandchildren will forever fondly remember the backyard "Grandma Camps" in the summers, the vacations at Fun Valley in Colorado, and the countless Estimate card game tournaments.

In October of 2014, Sue was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer and at that time she asked the Lord to let her live ten more years to see how the grandkids "turned out." God answered that prayer and gave her those ten years, as of October 4th of this year. With prayers, excellent care, and loving support from friends and the members of Grace Bible Church, she courageously fought the battle with her cancer over those 10 years. Sue's family is also grateful for Home Hospice of Grayson County and Korinia Stanton for their excellent care during this time.

Sue loved God's Word and kept a spiral notebook near her chair with scripture verses, given to her by family and friends, that reminded her of God's promises. The Lord walked with her day by day. Her greatest desire was that the grandkids and others who knew her would see the reality of God in her life and would want to know and trust Him and be blessed by a life of obedience to Him. Her desire was that her life would bring glory to the Lord. There is no doubt that it did.

Sue died October 7, 2024, at 79 years of age. She is interred at Friendship Cemetery. She trusted Jesus Christ as her Savior at an early age and loved the life that was given her. She was eagerly awaiting a promise of a new body and eternal life in heaven. Her final word to family and friends: Don't miss the reunion!

There will be a memorial service to celebrate Sue's life at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 19, 2024. The service will be held at Legacy Bible Church, 4818 FM 691, Denison, Texas, 75020.
