Sylvia Mae Austin left this life to be with the Lord July 20, 2024 in Sherman, Texas surrounded by her loving family. Memorial Services will be at 2:00 pm, August 10, 2024 at Waldo Funeral Home in Sherman, Texas.
Born to the late Katherine McDaniel Clark and Sidney Joseph Clark on October 29, 1936 at Harris Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas. Sylvia was the oldest of five children so she was always a caretaker, her destiny was sealed to become a nurse. She was honored and blessed to serve the Lord and His people through her ministry Caring Hands, Caring Hearts at Altamesa Church of Christ where she was also a Parish Nurse associated with Harris Hospital. She loved her God, family and nursing.
Survivors; her beloved children, Sharon Lea Richards and husband David of Sherman, Texas, Gordon Edgar (Buddy) Branum Jr. and wife Martha of Sherman, Texas, and Shanon Lei (Twiggy) Majors of Fort Worth, Texas; grandchildren, Tanner Ross Sorensen and wife Halley Radebaugh of McKinney, Texas, Sydney Madison Burnett and husband Shane of Benbrook, Texas, Trace Austin Majors of Fort Worth, Texas, and Pryce Dalton Branum of Austin, Texas; great grandchildren, Oliver, Rhys and Hunter Burnett of Benbrook, Texas. Step Children, Tamara Brettmann and husband Kevin, Timothy Austin and wife Pamela Austin; Step grandchildren, Margot Austin, Will Austin and wife Michelle, Caroline Brettmann Petersen and husband Trevar, and Colin Brettmann.
Sylvia was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Col. David A. Austin, sisters JoAnn Haynes and Linda Walden. Brothers; Michael Clark and Sidney Clark whom she worked together as nurses for 36 years at Harris Hospital.
She enjoyed nature…especially turtles, ladybugs, birds and frogs were her favorite. She really loved laughing and singing, cooking and working in the garden, and traveling- making friends everywhere she went. Sylvia loved greatly and was greatly loved. Most importantly, her love for the Lord poured out of her and touched everyone she met. Praise God!
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
