Sylvia R. Fitzpatrick, age 86 of Sherman, Texas passed away February 13, 2025, in Sherman.

Sylvia was born November 23, 1938, in Southmayd, Texas to Miguel Rangel and Gumecinda (Angel) Rangel.  She graduated from Sherman High School in 1956 and worked as a machine operator at Johnson and Johnson until her retirement.

Sylvia belonged to St. Mary's Catholic Church.  She enjoyed reading, crosswords, bowling and softball.

She was preceded in death by Ignacio Sandoval, Josephine Moreno, Vincente Sandoval, Angelina Sandoval, Carlos Rangel, Miguel Rangel, Leopoldo (Paul) Rangel, Daniel Rangel, and Mary Tolbert.

She is survived by her sister, Dolores Ramirez; daughter, Nichele Wells and husband Brad Wells; son, Jerome Fitzpatrick; grandson, Jordan Fitzpatrick; grandson, Jaylan Fitzpatrick and wife Brittney; grandson, Christian Mitchell and wife Le Antionette; grandson, Jayden Fitzpatrick; and 6 great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Sylvia was the true definition of strength, the unwavering backbone of her family. She loved her children, always guiding them with wisdom and courage. She embraced life fully, finding joy in the simple moments and sharing laughter with those she loved most. Her presence was a blessing, and her absence will be deeply felt. She will be greatly missed, but her spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

There will be a Rosary on Wednesday, February 26th, at Waldo Funeral Home at 6:00 PM, followed by a visitation from 6:30-8:00 PM. Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, February 27th, at St. Anne's Catholic Church at 11:00 AM. Pallbearers will be Mario Moreno, nephew; Jordan Fitzpatrick, grandson; Jaylan Fitzpatrick, grandson; Christian Mitchell, grandson; Jayden Fitzpatrick, grandson; and Joseph Mihalakis, grandnephew. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery.
