Thelma Jo Stevenson was born June 24, 1941, in Ladonia, Texas. She was educated in the public schools and graduated Valedictorian from Clark High School in Ladonia, Texas.
Her life became seasoned with love when she met Alton Crumby. The two were united in Holy Matrimony in 1957 and were blessed with two loving daughters, whom they named Shari and Gwendolyn.
Thelma accepted Christ as Lord over her life at an early age and united with Harmony Baptist Church in Sherman, Texas. She found her niche in life as a pianist, which brought her great joy. She was blessed to use her God-given talent at several churches in Sherman.
Thelma was gainfully employed with Texas Instrument (TI) as a technician for more than 30 years before retiring. She then worked for Walmart as a Supervisor in Domestics for 20 years before retiring again.
When she was not playing melodious music on the piano, Thelma also enjoyed bowling and gardening.
After a blessed and productive life, Thelma Jo Stevenson entered eternal rest on Saturday, March 2, 2024.
She will forever be cherished in the life her devoted daughters, Shari Gaines and husband, Ronald and Gwendolyn Henderson and husband, Jerald; her eight precious grandchildren, Talya Hines (Keith), Brandi Gaines, LaRonda Sogoba, Jeremy Gaines, Olivia Henderson, Victor Henderson, Brandon Hershey and Patrice Hershey; 15 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.
A public visitation will be Friday, March 8th from 3 P.M. to 7 P.M. at Waldo Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be Saturday, March 9th at 11 A.M. at Waldo Funeral Chapel with Rev. Nathaniel Chaney delivering the eulogy and Rev. Clifton Eaton officiating.
Burial will follow at Cedarlawn Memorial Park. Repast for family and friends will be at Waldo Family Center after the burial.
