IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Timothy Lynn
Patterson
December 17, 1960 – July 22, 2022
Timothy Lynn Patterson went to his heavenly home on July 22, 2022. Tim was born in Staunton, Virginia on December 17th, 1960. He loved life with a passion and was a wonderful caregiver of his late mother. Tim graduated from Virginia Tech in 1983 and married his first wife, Beth, in 1990. They had two beautiful children together. Tim was a CPA and worked in IT. He excelled in whatever he put his mind to, and was a loving husband, beloved mentor, coach, and confidante. The title he loved most, however, was Dad.
When I met Tim in 2007, we had our first date at Mama Cucina in Richmond, Virginia where he pretended his favorite pasta was ravioli with blush sauce, same as me... We married in 2014 and I'm convinced Tim and I have lived and known each other in another space or time as he was truly the love of my life.
Although Tim dealt with a variety of health challenges throughout his life, he always took his eyes off himself and focused on others with a smile on his face and a beautiful sense of humor. As a young man, Tim played tennis and loved triathlons. He enjoyed travel, sports cars, boating at Smith Mountain Lake, and especially adored playing with our dogs, Rufus and Fritz.
Tim will be deeply missed for so many reasons. He had a natural and almost mystical demeanor of always making you feel at ease. He was a man of integrity with a very quick wit. Always willing to lend an open ear, or to assist in others' needs, Tim was truly a servant leader and a prince among men.
Tim is survived by me, Suzy Patterson, who had the pleasure of becoming his wife in May of 2014; his first spouse Beth Patterson and husband Dave Mason, of Richmond, Virginia; his daughter Regina Patterson Hughes and son-in-law Lt. Evan Hughes and grandson Owen Scott Hughes, of Washington; his son Nicholas Layne Patterson and daughter-in-law Erin O'Dea Patterson of Philadelphia; stepdaughter Alicia Dawn Weatherly and partner Alonso Alvarez Romo de Vivar of Mexico City; daughter-in-law Heather Doxtater and grandchildren Ashsa, Jasmine, and Blaise Doxtater of San Antonio; siblings, James W Patterson of Oklahoma and Dee McClanahan of West Virginia; and cousins Mark and Kay Layne, Joan and James Hardin, Sandy and Doug Thomas, and Sue and Harold Coleman of Virginia. He was preceded in death by his parents, Daisy Pearl Jackson Layne Patterson and James Watson Patterson, Sr.
A memorial service will be officiated by Pastor Doug Silvers at 2pm on December 29, 2022, at the Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church at 200 Mount Pleasant Road in Wytheville, Virginia. A celebration of life gathering will follow at 4pm at The Log House 1776 Restaurant on 520 East Main Street in Wytheville.
