IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Tommy D.
Roberts, Sr.
August 17, 1964 – September 28, 2023
Tommy Duane Roberts transitioned from his earthly life on September 28, 2023 at the young age of 59. He was the youngest of three. Born to the late William and Mary Virginia Roberts (Conner) on August 17, 1964, in Big Spring, Tx. He was educated in Denison Public Schools, and was a 1983 graduate of Denison High. He briefly attended classes at Grayson County College. His favorite pastime was dancing and playing basketball with his best friend, Katnip.
Tommy married Vanessa Dean in December 1983, and two children were born of that union. Aura and Tommy Jr.
Tommy worked for years at multiple local plants as a forklift operator, as well as pursuing a career in music. He was a beautiful singer who wrote and produced his own music. He performed regularly, won a plethora of local and statewide talent shows, and even received multiple label offers, with the help of his manager and producer, Charles West and Dexter Dabney.
Tommy soon realized that his heart belonged to the Lord. He grew up in the church, but at this time he began to move in his gifts and use them to minister the Word. His walk with Christ grew stronger, as well as his faith.
In August 1999 Tommy remarried and began a life with Janet Norman. He was blessed with two bonus children, Tori and Jordan. They shared a close bond and he raised them as his own. He was moved to start his own ministry, and God's House of Worship was established in McKinney, Tx with his wife and dear friends, Minister and Mrs. Mason. He loved to preach the Word, and he always did what he could to help God's people. He touched the lives of everyone he met.
Tommy was a minister of music, and one of the things he loved the most was leading praise and worship. Especially when he was able to sing with his long time friend and musician, Antone. When they sang, you couldn't help but feel the presence of the Lord.
In 2000, Tommy decided to return to Denison to be closer to his mother and his family. He helped to raise two of his grandchildren, Alexi and Ja'Bryan. He had a very special bond with them both, and spoiled them as often as he could.
He continued to preach the Word of God until his transition from his earthly life. He was the most loving and kind person, had the sweetest smile, and never spoke a bad word about anyone. He never met a stranger, and genuinely loved everyone he met. He was always encouraging, always supportive, and always positive. He always said "You cannot change people, places, or things until people, places. or things cannot change you".
Tommy is survived by his wife, Janet Roberts, of Sherman, Tx. His daughter, Aura Roberts, of Denison, Tx. His son, Tommy Roberts Jr (Ashley) of Sherman, Tx. His bonus sons Tori Watson, of Sherman, Tx and Jordan Watson, of Denison, Tx. Also left to cherish his memory are his sisters, Patricia Baker (John) of Oklahoma City, Ok and Jackie Kelly (Jimmy) of Denison, Tx. A god daughter, Sharis Allen, of Sherman,Tx and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and church members. He was preceded in death by his loving parents, William and Mary Roberts.
