Travis Cook, a dedicated father, PaPa and jack of all trades, ended his recent struggles by joining the God he served in the heavenly space on June 20, 2026 at the age of 85. He was born in White Deer, TX in the family home. His dad said the doctor made dinner for the family as he awaited Travis’ birth. He was the son of Truman and Dorothy Blevins Cook. He is preceded in death by his parents as well as his beloved sister Ruby Cook Parks.

Travis attended elementary school in Skellytown, TX and High School in Pampa, TX. He received an Associates of Science degree at Texas State Technical Institute in Amarillo, TX. He began his work history by working for a moving company. He then drove a truck with partner Dale Hemphill, his friend from 2nd grade until the present, and David Parks, his brother-in-law. He also worked as a pipefitter, oil field pumper, computer chip technician, hobby farmer, and chicken man.

Travis married Angela Hefner in Borger, TX on August 4th, 1979. They were partners in life for nearly 47 years-a feat that no one predicated at their marriage, giving proof of their love, dedication and stubbornness. They became the parents of two daughters, Amanda and Amy. Travis proudly spent time with the girls in many ways; vacation trips, family boating and fishing, church attendance and service. He also often used his many handyman skills in Angela’s classrooms, and joined her as a chaperone for Special Olympics, where he spent time with children who he easily respected and in one case especially, shared great admiration. Travis loved working outside and more than once in the past year was forced to give up a large tractor project by his anxious spouse. Travis adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was the leader of golf cart rides, throwing rocks into the pond and singing loudly, as well as other activities. His favorite role was as Papa and rule breaking accomplice. His favorite rule to break was “NO CHILDREN ON THE TRACTOR!!”

Travis took Angela on adventures including cross country trucking, Amtrak to California, her dream trip to Mt. Rushmore, and many other expeditions. But he never took her to the Statue of Liberty. He did take Chase, which became ongoing teasing by both Travis and Chase!

Travis is survived by his wife, Angela. His daughters and their husbands; Amanda and Jason Welch, Amy and Bryan Day. He greatly loved his grandchildren; Chase Farrar, Bradley Farrar, Sophie Day, and Julia Day. He was further blessed with great-grandchildren; Lukas Farrar and Violet Farrar. He is also survived by his sisters; Sharon Swenson and Wanda Helton, and many nieces and nephews.

Travis will be greatly missed in his loving, devoted, opinionated, stubborn, often cranky life of devotion, dependability, love for God, and leadership of his “tribe”.
