Obituary

Patricia “Tricia” Ann Grigg was born on November 24, 1957, in Sherman, Texas. Tricia passed away on September 6, 2026, in Sherman, Texas. She is the daughter of Homer I. Grigg and Margaret Abbott Grigg Atkins.

Tricia graduated from Sherman High School and Grayson County College. She attended North Texas State University (Now University of North Texas) in Denton, Texas.

She grew up in Central Christian Church in Sherman and accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior and was baptized in that church. She is now a member of First Baptist Church in Sherman. She is an active member of the Triple L Club at First Baptist Church.

She had a career with and retired from the Texas Health and Human Services Commission as a Medicaid Eligibility Specialist working with elderly and disabled clients.

She was a true animal lover, especially of all kinds of felines. She had cats her entire life and treated them as her “babies”. She would have taken in all cats if she had the means to do so.

She loved to travel and has visited all 50 states and several countries. Ireland being her favorite country she visited as Ireland was part of her heritage. Although her first trip to Honduras she was able to hold a sloth which made for a very memorable trip.

She also loved going to concerts especially The Texas Tenors but The Statler Brothers was her first “love”. After The Statler Brothers retired and The Texas Tenors were formed she started going to as many of their concerts as possible. She attended concerts for Alan Jackson, The Oak Ridge Boys, Donny and Marie Osmond, Pam Tillis and Lorrie Morgan just to name a few.

She is predeceased in death by her parents, brother Ken Grigg, stepfather Wayne “Zeke” Atkins, and step-brothers Jim Higgins and Ed Higgins, maternal grandparents Arthur Guy “AG” and Ann Elizabeth “Beth” (Muir) Abbott, and paternal grandparents Frank and Lee Ola (Butridge) Grigg and aunt Bertha Lee McCuan, uncles Don Grigg and Roger Abbott and cousin Don McCuan. Also, extended aunts and uncles.

She is survived by Gary Shields, her longtime significant other, and cousins, Gary Abbott and wife Denise, Greg Abbott and wife Cecilia, Wayne Grigg and wife Laura, Larry Grigg and partner Dennis Dobson, Walter Ronald McCuan and wife Teresa, and very special friend Shirley Waldrum. She is also survived by her kitties, (Grayson, Savanna and Molly), whom she dearly loved and they will miss their “momma” tremendously. She is also survived by other extended family and friends.
