Obituary

Vera Elizabeth "Liz" Donegan, lovingly known as "Frog," passed away peacefully on Friday, July 24, 2026, at the age of 74 in Denison, Texas. Liz was born on June 24, 1952, in Honey Grove, Texas, to Grady Eugene Ritchson and Cleta Faye (Springer) Ritchson. Liz was a woman whose laughter, kindness, and love for life left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.

She found her greatest joy in spending time with her family, especially making memories with her beloved great granddaughter, Lillian Blagburn, and great-great-grandson, Aden Blagburn. Whether enjoying simple outings together or sharing stories and laughter, those moments were treasures she held close to her heart. Aden brought immeasurable joy to her life. The love between them was undeniable, and the bond they shared was one that will forever be cherished by those who witnessed it. Her family will always remember the way her face lit up whenever Aden was near and the unconditional love that she poured into him. Anyone who knew Liz knew of her unmistakable love for frogs. Her treasured collection reflected her fun-loving spirit and unique personality, and those little frogs will forever remind her family of the joy she brought into their lives. A devoted follower of Christ, Liz faithfully attended Trinity Lighthouse Church, where her faith was nurtured and shared with others. Her relationship with the Lord guided her life and gave her strength through every season.

Liz was married to the love of her life, Richard Donegan, on June 6th, 1993 . Together they built a life rooted in love, faith, and family. As the proud wife of a veteran, she faithfully supported her husband and cherished the life they shared. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend whose greatest legacy was the love she poured into those around her.

She is survived by her son, Grant and his wife Joann Partridge; her bonus daughters, Frances Ratcliff and Tashia Knowles; her grandchildren, Veronica and her Husband Joe Grissom, Jessica Carter, Jennifer and her Husband Chris Archer, and Gabby Knowles; her great-grandchildren, Lillian, Brandy, Mattia, Joshua, Brianna, Austin, and Andrew; and her great-great-grandchildren, Aden and Bryson. She is also survived by her sisters, Gracie Faye Davis, Cathryn Jeanette Sides, and Amy Lou McIntyre; her brothers, Loyd Eugene Ritchson, Grady Leon Ritchson, and Elton Lewis Ritchson; along with many cherished nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever hold her memory close. Liz was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Richard Donegan; her parents, Grady Eugene Ritchson and Cleta Faye "Springer" Ritchson; and her grandparents. Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing Liz has been reunited with those she loved and is now in the presence of her Savior. Her legacy of faith, love, laughter, and compassion will continue to live on through the family she adored and the countless lives she touched. "Well done, good and faithful servant." – Matthew 25:23 Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during family night on Thursday, July 30, 2026 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Waldo's Funeral Home.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Trinity Lighthouse Church, where family and friends will gather to honor and celebrate Liz's beautiful life and unwavering faith. The service will be August 15, 2026 at 2 p.m. In accordance with Liz's wishes, she will be cremated. At a later date, she will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Richard, at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, where they will be reunited once again.
