Virginia Leon Marvin Buckner took her first Heavenly breath on July 1, 2024, at her residence in Sherman, TX.

Virginia was born May 11, 1940, in Bells, TX, to Elmer Leon and Leona Pearl (Buchanan) Marvin. She was the 1958 valedictorian of Sherman High School.

On December 19, 1958, she married James "Jay" Washington Buckner in Sherman.  They made their life in Sherman and had two children, Jenifer Kay and Jeffery Jay. They celebrated 55 years of marriage before Jay passed away on August 30, 2013.

Over her career she worked at S.H. Kress Drug, Texas Instruments and with her husband at Jay Buckner State Farm Insurance as office manager.

Virginia and her husband Jay were world travelers and visited some of the most beautiful places on the globe.  She also enjoyed cooking, watching TV game shows, working crossword puzzles and an occasional trip to Choctaw Casino.

Preceding Virginia in death are her husband Jay, her mother and father Leona and Leon Marvin, and her brother in laws, Vyron Cherry and Lonnie Buckner.

A loving mom, grandmother (Gams) and great-grandmother, she is survived by her two children, Jenifer Kay Buckner Carney Copeland and husband George, Jeffery Jay Buckner and wife Jill, grandchildren; Albert Benjamin Carney IV, Arthur James "AJ" Carney, Mackenzie Buckner King and husband Hayden, Macie Leon Buckner and Peyton Elizabeth Buckner, and great-grandchildren; Amara Esther Carney and Bennett King.

Also surviving is her sister, Dana Marvin Cherry, her Uncle Bill and Aunt Edith Buchanan, along with a host of loving cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 am, Saturday, July 13, 2024, at Waldo Funeral Home Chapel.

The funeral service will be held at 11 am Saturday, July 13, 2024, in the Waldo Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Chuck Dodd will officiate. A private family interment will follow at Friendship Cemetery in Sherman, Tx.
