Funeral services for Vivian Hobbs, 92, of Sherman, TX will be held at 10:00 Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at the West Hill Cemetery in Sherman. Rev. David Petrash will officiate and the services are under the direction of Waldo Funeral Home.
Vivian passed away on December 14, 2008 at the Whitesboro Nursing Center. She was born on January 12, 1916 in Sherman, TX the daughter of E.C. Riley Sr. and May (Martin) Riley. Vivian graduated from Sherman High School. She married Linsey Haskell Hobbs on July 4, 1936. He preceded her in death on January 1, 1976. Vivian taught two and three year old children for several years at the Key Memorial Church. She also served as a volunteer for Key Memorial Care Center.
She is survived by her daughter, Lyndall Wilcoxon and husband Luther of Sherman, TX, one granddaughter, Kelly Wilcoxon Hall of Sherman, TX, one great granddaughter, Shelby Hall of Sherman, TX and one brother, E.C. Riley, Jr. of Sherman, TX. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Vivian was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one sister, Melba Hurst and one brother, Harold Riley.
Viewing will be on Tuesday, December 16 from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Key Memorial United Methodist Church or Home Hospice of Grayson County.
