March 11, 1940 – April 21, 2018
Wanda Fountain
Howe- Funeral services for Wanda Evelyn Fountain will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, April 25 at Waldo Funeral Home. Rev. Duane Peters will officiate. Burial will follow at Cedarlawn Memorial Park with Brent Fountain, Chad Fountain, Chase Fountain, Nathan Grady, Brad Grady, Jamison Adams, Jaden Adams, and Shawn Fountain serving as pallbearers. Our beloved mother was called home Saturday, April 21 at Wilson N. Jones Regional Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.
Wanda was born March 11, 1940 to Willie and Mildred (Wallace) Benedict. She was raised in Sherman with three brothers and five sisters. Wanda attended Southmayd Schools. She met the man of her dreams and the love of her life, Jimmy Fountain. They were married January 24, 1958. Together they were inseparable. Wanda loved her family and her big family get togethers. Camping at Burns Run and Flowing Wells, traveling, loading the van to go to the drive-in were some of her favorites. She was a lifelong member of Cornerstone Baptist Church.
After 37 years of marriage, she lost her best friend Jimmy. She maintained and kept close to family. She always had a smile and a cup of coffee for anyone that stopped by. Wanda lived a full, loving life. She was preceded in death by her father and mother; her amazing husband; two brothers, David and Billie Benedict; and two sisters, Margie Baldwin and Dorothy Matthews.
Mrs. Fountain is survived by three sons, Ricky Fountain and wife Melanie, Leroy Fountain and wife Becky, and Shawn Moondog Fountain; two daughters, Teresa Mclain and husband Tony and Sherry Grady and husband Mickey; nine grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; one brother, Roger Benedict; three sisters, Margaret Carroll, Mary Hill, and Lena Flexer; and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Benson and his staff for the excellent care they provided. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Tuesday at Waldo Funeral Home. The register book can be signed online at waldofuneralhome.com.
