Obituary

Allen -

On Friday January 12 2018, Wanda Mahoney Johnson passed away peacefully at the Allen Presbyterian hospital, surrounded by family that cared for and loved her deeply. She was born August 5, 1963 in Clovis, New Mexico to Mary and Don Oliver Mahoney Sr.  Wanda attended Mading Grammar school and then Madison High School in Houston Texas, graduating in 1980.  During these years she became a wonderful piano player and loved performing as a drum majorette in her High School marching band.  After High School, Wanda earned an associate's degree from TSU College.  She worked as a shipping supervisor for the city of Houston and a County Clerk in McKinney.  In 1986 she met her husband Roemont Johnson and they enjoyed 31 years of life together.  They raised three loving children for whom Wanda dedicated her life to nurturing and protecting.  A couple of years ago on a late afternoon her daughter Magen called and told her mom she couldn't make her monthly visit to see her because her daughter was having painful stomach problems. Wanda got up and made the five hour drive to her "princess Leighton".  She showed up and got her well again like only Wanda could.  She wouldn't leave until she knew Leighton was okay and figured out what was wrong.  She was the definition of selfless.  In 2005 she became an ordained minister in Oklahoma.  She always prayed for her family's happiness and wellbeing and god rewarded her with that blessing.  Wanda's greatest passion was caring for people; her greatest gift was her ability to forgive.  She is survived by and will forever be cherished by her husband, Roemont Johnson; Daughter, Magen; Sons, Marcus, Taylor, Aaron Sutherland; the light of her life and her truly precious grand babies Leighton Doll Sutherland, Atticus Heartwyn Sutherland. Both names her daughter, Magen Johnson, let her mom come up with.  Morgan Washington, Marissa Washington, Tonya Washington; Mother, Mary Mahoney; step father, Paul E Miller Sr; siblings, Arthur Mahoney, Don Mahoney Jr, Paul Miller Jr, Paula Miller, Aaron Miller. She also had a special motherly relationship with her niece Sierra Mahoney and nephews Arthur Jr and Christopher Mahoney that she spent many celebrations and quality time with as they grew up. Including other family and friends whose lives Wanda blessed and became a part of.

The Broken Chain
We little knew that morning that god was going to call your name
In life we loved you dearly; in death we do the same
It broke our hearts to lose you, you did not go alone
For part of us went with you, the day god called you home
You left us peaceful memories; your love is still our guide
And though we cannot see you, you are always at our side
Our family chain is broken, and nothing seems the same
But as god calls us one by one, the chain will link again
