Obituary

William "Billy-Boy" Ralph Boyd was born on March 20, 1947 to Charles and Betty Boyd in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Billy-Boy has two children, Christa Nafstad Toribiong, of Koror, Palau, and Bret Boyd, of Sherman, Texas, both of us born in New Orleans, Louisiana. Billy-Boy has six grandchildren: Aurora Boyd-Nafstad, Katja Boyd-Nafstad, and Aksel Boyd-Nafstad of Oslo, Norway; Ily Boyd of Sherman, Texas, Halo Boyd (pre-deceased) of Sherman, Texas, and a new grandchild arriving in February 2025 whom he will unfortunately never get to meet.

He also has three surviving siblings: Robert Boyd of Denver, Colorado, Becky Boyd, and Brenda Dunaway of Madison, Mississippi.
It's hard to make a fitting obituary for Billy-Boy as he was larger than this life; he was a real one in a world full of fakes, liars, and cheats. He was always our rock in times of trouble. Life without him seems insurmountable, but we hope and believe he will always be here in one form or another. He was always on the side of the underdog. After completing his time in the Air Force, in San Antonio, Texas (where he saw Jimi Hendrix play live,) he returned to New Orleans, Louisiana where he was a proud member of the Plumber and Pipefitters Union. He was reprimanded by the bosses for wearing a band armband when John Lennon was assassinated, and was blacklisted in New Orleans after organizing a union drive at his workplace. Because of this, he moved to Tom Bean, Texas in 1985, where his ex-wife's people are from, and raised his family there. He died in the same house that we all moved to in 1985, though for these past few years he lived there alone.
