The passing of Xander Thomas Humphreys, 20, of Van Alstyne, is announced with great sadness. He passed away on July 31, 2025. Born in Sherman, TX, on June 6, 2005, Xander was the son of Maggie and Derek Humphreys. He touched many lives with his kindness, smile, and love for animals.
From a young age, Xander showed a passion for building, especially with Lego sets. He also enjoyed working with his father in the custom home building business. He also enjoyed traveling and hiking in historical sites with his mother.
Xander is survived by siblings Ivania, Ashlan, and Logan, along with his animal companions. He will be deeply missed by his family, including father Derek Humphreys, mother Maggie Zeman, stepmother Mary Humphreys, and his siblings. Also surviving are grandparents Tom and Marty Humphreys, James Zeman II and Jeannett Zeman, aunts and uncles Tj and Nikki Humphreys, Annie Humphreys, Sarah Suzuki, and Jacob Zeman, and many cousins.
A celebration of Xander's life will be held at Waldo Funeral Home on August 13th at 2 p.m. In place of flowers, contributions can be made to Rescue, an organization for the preservation of animal life.
